Description
This species is native to Ecuador and Peru, and this particular clone is believed to be a highland/upland type that hosts shorter foliage than the lowland types. However, the flower count is high when mature on this variety, similar to lowland types. This is a selfing of a variety with good color and high flower count. The awarded clone 'Gorgeous' in Japan had 13 flowers!

Cattleya maxima is known for its 'wild' flower look, with fpetals that typically face forward. These do have wider segments than most maximas and a deeper purple color.

When listed in spike these may be sent in sheath with the buds just starting inside at the base. These will take approx. 3-6 weeks to emerge. It’s safer for the buds to be sent while they are low in the sheath.
