Native to Southeast Asia, including Borneo, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Unlike most Vandaceous orchids which are epiphytes, this species is found in the wild as a terrestrial, nick-named the swamp orchid as it grows in deep, peaty soils that occasionally are submerged in water!

They can tolerate different kinds of potting mix, from moss to bark, and will also do well in a peat mix with bark and perlite added to facilitate drainage. The 3-inch flowers are very nice and are borne on stems that are longer than the leaves. You can tie this plant up to a moss pole for stability and optional growing when mature.
